Why I Don't Vote Republican

Taking just the briefest, shallowest look at the Presidential candidates:

Cain - sexual harassment accusations

Gingrich - hypocrite who raised Cain about Clinton cheating on his wife -- while he was busily cheating on his wife with his next wife...

Ron Paul - anti-women's rights and don't forget his racist newsletter

Romney - Mormon (some people will never get past that), anti-union, wants to raise age limit for Medicare, wants to increase the military by at least 100,000 troops

Santorum - against birth control, tried to tack Intelligent Design onto the No Child Left Behind (like that hasn't been a big enough disaster)

Trump - birther

What? These are the Republican candidates? (Yes, I know that some are out of the race already.) Are you KIDDING me? Out of the entire Republican party, this is the best they can do?

I just shake my head. Not a credible candidate in the running.

As a woman, I couldn't vote for a candidate who was against birth control (unless the other choice was Hitler), I couldn't vote for a racist, I couldn't vote for a birther, I couldn't vote for a hypocrite.

Hmmm, guess that took care of the Repubs...

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

Or if you prefer, just shoot yourself in the foot, along with your chances of winning a chance at the Presidency. While some people will vote for him, he just guaranteed that a whole lot of us, including Republicans, won't even look at him as a viable candidate.

How can you think that a statement like this is even acceptable?

"They're pushing harder and harder to get more and more of you dependent upon them so they can get your vote. That's what the bottom line is. So I don't want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else's money. I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money and provide for themselves and their families."

Wait a minute. So he thinks that our Brothers and Sisters don't work? That a majority of Black Americans are on welfare? That if you're Black, you are looking for a handout?

Really?

REALLY?

While there are still massive problems with the welfare system, Welfare Reform is more than 15 years old. The system changed dramatically in the 90s, forcing participants to look for jobs, putting time limits on adults, and sanctioning those who try to defraud the system.

The economic meltdown really hurt a lot of the success of Welfare Reform. Last hired, first fired is still the mantra of businesses everywhere. People who worked their way out of welfare were among the first fired. So they had to go back to the system to help pay the bills and feed their kids.

Yeah, I know, but listen to me -- If your highly skilled and qualified neighbor has been out of work for two years, what the heck makes you think that the person down the street with a GED and two kids, with a no-account ex who's been dodging his/her child support for the last 10 years, is going to be able to bounce right out and find a new job?

There are a lot of people on the system right now who never, ever, in their lives, would've thought it would come to this. They are struggling to survive. They paid into the system by working and paying taxes like everyone else. Now they're taking a little bit back and Santorum thinks that they're leeching off the government?

What would make this clown think that Black Americans aren't out busting their behinds like everyone else, looking for jobs and trying to raise their families?

In fact, what makes him think that the majority of people on assistance are Black? While the proportions may be high, due to a number of factors including discrimination, lack of education or opportunity and physical location, there are more WHITE people on welfare than Blacks.

And you all wondered why I said, straight up, that there are NO credible Republican candidates. None. The people stepping up are the dregs of the party, if you ask me for my biased opinion. Hypocrites, bigots, delusional, even a bit demented, that certainly fits the candidates that I've seen so far.

The Republicans don't have a chance.

Thank God.

No Credible Candidates

I was talking to someone today about the Republican candidates that are popping out of the woodwork -- like cockroaches.

Oh me, oh my, do the Repubs have a credible candidate one?

I don't think so.

Seriously, each of the Republicans that have thrown their hat into the ring has some kind of major flaw that's going to put off enough voters to wreck their chances at winning.

Now, don't get me wrong here, I'm not unhappy with this, being a Democrat and all...

But seriously, who is going to vote for the Mormon candidate? Who is going to vote for the candidate associated with the Tea Party? Who is going to vote for the guy who has little or no political experience (think Palin in a man's suit)? In all seriousness, I don't see a single viable candidate on the Republican side of the house. Every single one is going to have insurmountable issues when it comes to the mainstream moderate voter.

Oh, yeah, they'll jump up and down and have hissy fits, bring up all kinds of BS about our President, make false accusations and in the end, shoot themselves in their own big feet. There will be more discussion of our President being born in Kenya despite all the evidence to the contrary. There will be more carrying on and that's all it's going to be, the same blah blah blah that was completely unsuccessful in the last election.

When will they ever learn?

When will they figure out that Americans don't want to hear all that negative BS? Americans want to hear what the heck the politicians plan to do to boost the economy -- and that does NOT include lining the pockets of the rich. Giving tax cuts and incentives to the rich means just one thing -- the rich get richer and there's still no jobs...

Yeah, the Repubs are going to have to do better than they have so far if they even want to have a smell of the 2012 election.

(Thank goodness! Our President is doing the best job possible considering the horrible mess and the stonewalling of the Republicans in Congress. I know who I'm voting for and it's not a Republican candidate.)

Yet Another Reason To Hate Republicans

Insensitive, self-righteous, obnoxious pig -- how's that for a start?

South Carolina Republican Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer gave me yet another reason to never, ever, ever become a Republican. Never.

On Friday, not only did he open his mouth, shove his foot in, but he's still gnawing at his hip instead of admitting that he could be WRONG and APOLOGIZE to the poor and needy families he insulted with his typical Republican point of view of the "welfare" system of cash aid, food stamps, Medicaid/Medi-Cal.

Quote:
"My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals," Bauer told a Greenville-area crowd. "You know why? Because they breed.

"You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better."

He's comparing poor families to ANIMALS??? In a state with 12.6% unemployment?

And he feels NO need to apologize.

Say what?

OK, like I didn't need another reason to hate a closed minded, selfish, arrogant, self-righteous political organization that not only condones but encourages this kind of attitude toward the peoples of his state and the United States.

Calling poor families, even children, animals?

As a Christian, I'm embarrassed that someone who professes Christianity would forget that Jesus himself told us that the poor would always be with us AND that we're supposed to take care of the widows and children. It's our mandated duty, given to us by our Savior. We don't get to pick and choose what we think the right thing to do, this is straight out of the Big Man's mouth. We are to care for the poor. Period.

Bauer needs to crack open the Word and let the Lord smack him up side the head a few times. Then apologize and do some actual work for a change, like volunteer at the local soup kitchen and homeless shelter. No, not just a donation -- I'm talking about actually getting his behind up out of his white castle and go down into the streets and do some important work for the Lord.

In the meantime, we the people have a duty to handle politicians with this kind of disrespectful attitude toward the families they're supposed to represent.

IE: Vote the B******s out! (And in Bauer's case, don't vote him in as governor!)

Hmmm, Interesting Choice For Vice President

McCain's choice of a VP is pretty interesting.

In fact, I think it's brilliant!

As the talking heads were announcing that Sarah Palin was the choice, and started describing her, I felt my heart leap.

Dang, if I were a Republican, I'd vote for her!

Lucky me, I'm not, I'll stick with Obama.

But listen. McCain's choice is a smart one for many, many reasons. Yes, her experience is limited, but her life choices outweigh a lot of that.

What am I talking about?

McCain is going for the marginal (and not so marginal) votes.

Palin is a Christian, hunter, mooseburger eater, NRA member, anti-abortion advocate, anti-gay marriage that still followed her state's court rulings regarding discrimination against gays.

She has a Down Syndrome child that she CHOSE to have, despite the results of the prenatal testing. IE, no lip service here, she walks the walk.

Oh, and she's a white woman, still married to her first husband, with five kids and one is in the military, preparing to be deployed to Iraq.

She's a Moderate Republican's wet dream of an up and coming politician. She leans far enough to the Right to make most Republicans happy, without swinging so far that she's unpalatable to the undecided voters.

And she's quite attractive too. Which rarely hurts a candidate.

Don't underestimate the desirability of this woman to the Republicans and the wobblers. Don't underestimate her desirability to the Christian Right.

If she'd been paired with a better Presidential candidate, she'd be perfect, I might have even considered voting Republican.

McCain made a brilliant choice with his Vice Presidential candidate. She's going to pull in a LOT of votes that might(maybe) have went Democratic -- a lot of traditional, middle-American white votes.

But I don't think I could stand four more years of the Bush brotherhood of Republicans in charge.

I just can't do it.

Who're You Going To Vote For??

Do you know who you're going to vote for?

I know who I'm going to vote for.

Interestingly, the results this website gave me the same answer that I'd already come to...

http://www.votechooser.com/

If you haven't decided who to vote for, maybe it'll help you out.

If you've already decided, it may (or may not) confirm your decision.

Have fun!

2008 - A Year of Change?

Is 2008 going to be a year of change?

Or is it going to be lots of noise and talk and bull hockey, with no real change at all?

Shoot, I don't know!

I can say that it's going to be interesting as the politics get deeper and mudslinging gets uglier. And there's a whole lotta mud that's going to be slung. The Clinton machine is churning away. Obama is looking better by the minute. Edward's wife is looking tired (I need to pray for that woman, she needs ALL our strength and prayers as she continues to battle cancer). The Republicans are in about the same boat, lots of uncertainty.

Bottom line, which candidate has the best ability to win? Who can win the hearts of Americans? Actually, it's more of business as usual -- who is going to be the best of a bunch of bad choices?

I like Obama. I'm just not sure he's going to be able to win this year.

I don't like too many of the other Democratic candidates.

I pretty much don't like any of the Republicans.

Most of the other candidates aren't viable.

I'll be honest, I don't know who's going to win the election.

One thing I do know: No matter what any candidate promises the American public, if he/she thinks anything will be accomplished without the cooperation of Congress, he/she is a fool. And we're fools for believing anything different...

My Dad Hates Democrats

My Dad hates Democrats.

Of course I'm a Demo -- LOL -- guess since I'm his baby girl I get a pass on it. (But you really have to pick something in order to have any kind of real vote in the elections.)

I consider myself to be a moderate. With some wild swings to the right and the left on certain issues. Mostly I think we have too much government, too many laws we don't enforce, and the feds need to get their noses out of people's bedrooms and private lives.

I think marriage should be between two consenting adults and their church. Everybody gets a civil union, then you can go over to your church to get "married" if you want. (I'm not in favor of polygamy, it's BS, sorry guys, you can't keep up, why should you get the extra woman and keep us ladies unsatisfied?)

Mary Jane should be legalized and regulated along with cigarettes and alcohol. No smoking nothing in public or around the kids. We should have proper smoking areas for people. We should concentrate the "drug war" on meth and crack, cocaine and heroin. Education first, then treatment with prison as a last resort for the big dealers.

I think Dad and I actually agree on some of that!!

But on the flip side of that conservative coin, Dad has all respect for hardworking people, he doesn't give a crap what color you are as long as you're good people and a worker. He has nothing but disdain for anyone who's leaching off the system (the disabled and truly poor are excluded from that).

He hates the Clintons (no surprise there, LOL), does NOT support the current actions in Iraq, thinks Obama doesn't have a chance because he's a Demo and therefore will ruin the country. (But I think if Obama went Republican Dad would most likely vote for him...) He would've voted for Colin Powell. In fact, I would have too. But we know the smartest people in Washington do NOT want to be President, and Powell is a really smart man. He would have been awesome. Sigh.

Oh, and he also thinks we have too many laws and don't enforce the ones we have already [that should be enforced].

He thinks that the news media looks for anything bad to present to the public as the only truth there is. (Hey, another thing we agree on!)

Don't get him started about Jesse or Al though...
