Why I Don't Vote Republican

Taking just the briefest, shallowest look at the Presidential candidates:

Cain - sexual harassment accusations

Gingrich - hypocrite who raised Cain about Clinton cheating on his wife -- while he was busily cheating on his wife with his next wife...

Ron Paul - anti-women's rights and don't forget his racist newsletter

Romney - Mormon (some people will never get past that), anti-union, wants to raise age limit for Medicare, wants to increase the military by at least 100,000 troops

Santorum - against birth control, tried to tack Intelligent Design onto the No Child Left Behind (like that hasn't been a big enough disaster)

Trump - birther

What? These are the Republican candidates? (Yes, I know that some are out of the race already.) Are you KIDDING me? Out of the entire Republican party, this is the best they can do?

I just shake my head. Not a credible candidate in the running.

As a woman, I couldn't vote for a candidate who was against birth control (unless the other choice was Hitler), I couldn't vote for a racist, I couldn't vote for a birther, I couldn't vote for a hypocrite.

Hmmm, guess that took care of the Repubs...

Racism Is Alive And Well In The United States

If you think that racism has been conquered, I have bad news for you.

Even politicians occasionally open their mouths and reveal their true agendas.

This time it was Congressional candidate Jack Davis. He was seeking the GOP endorsement, running for Western New York's 26th Congressional District. (Recently vacated by Rep. Chris Lee after a scandal involving the Internet and a woman that wasn't his wife.) On February 20th, he said, "We have a huge unemployment problem with black youth in our cities. Put them on buses, take them out there [to the farms] and pay them a decent wage; they will work."

Yes, he didn't get the endorsement he was seeking. Instead the GOP gave it to Assemblywoman Jane L. Corwin of Clarence, NY.

I'll be honest with you, I am not surprised. I'm also not surprised that he's seeking endorsement from the Tea Party.

PULEEZE don't try to tell me that racism doesn't exist in the United States. It's pretty darn obvious that it does and worse, the ignorant fools don't even seem to realize just how rotten and offensive their thoughts about People of Color really are.

Seriously, it makes me sick just to think that Davis, a grown man who ought to know better, would think that this is OK.

Ugh.

And The Slide Into Chaos Begins

Remember back in May, May 22nd to be specific, where I pointed out the slippery slope of Arizona's law requiring law enforcement to question the citizenship of people. And how that power can and will be abused, harassing citizens who are brown, or have an accent, or that the officer just doesn't like. (Cops are human, do not ever kid yourself. They WILL profile.)

Well get this, right out of Time.com: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1996064,00.html?xid=rss-fullnation-yahoo

So here we go, facing exactly what I said. The children will be next.

And then the children who only have one parent that's a citizen. (Think Obama and the birth certificate garbage that people are still repeating. Bunch of freaking idiots.)

And then the children of citizens who aren't born on US soil. If they aren't born here, then they can't be citizens, right?

And then people of any unpopular race, color, religion, creed.

I hate being right. Damn, I hate it.

The handwriting is on the wall. Are we going to stand up and fight for the rights of our citizens? Or are we going to be like Nazi Germany? Little by little, allowing the fanatics to undermine our rights, until no one has any rights at all?

It's up to us, all of us, to stand up for our Brothers and Sisters, our fellow citizens, no matter what race, color, religion, or creed -- and that includes national origin too.

About The Tea Party Racism

Yes, I hear people talking about how the Tea Party movement isn't racist, that it's NOT about having a Black President, that we just aren't like that any more.

Huh.

Well, ya know, people can SAY anything they want, but the proof is out there, as this writer pointed out in her article, Too much tea party racism.

Even in liberal San Francisco (which is NOT as liberal as many people think), there's a lot of Conservatives and while they may get outvoted, they're a force to be reckoned with.

Don't believe me? Check it out:

Just do a quick Google. You don't have to believe me, the proof is out there for all who want to see it. As for the rest of you -- sigh -- ignorance IS a lifestyle choice.

The Tea Party -- Like Herding Cats

We hear a lot on the news about the current Tea Party Movement.

But what are they?

In my mind, they're a bunch of small minded, bigoted (even racist), conservatives who want to roll back time, back to the 50s when white was right and America's might dominated world politics.

Of course I think they're deluded.

But I read this most interesting piece about the Tea Party Conservative. Especially interesting was about halfway down the article, "The Three Flavors of Tea". According the article, the Tea Party movement is a mish-mash of various political misfits.

Talk about herding cats! They're lucky they can agree on a place and time to demonstrate!

The Time article, The Making of the Tea Party Movement by David Von Drehle, really captures the Tea Party mentality, explaining it to the rest of us who look at crowds of mostly middle aged and older whites, signs bobbing up and down with monkeys and trite slogans, and say "Whaaaaa?"

Refuses To Marry Interracial Couples?

Are you kidding me? This Justice of the Peace refuses to marry interracial couples and in Louisiana, that's OK?

Are you joking?

And people think that racism doesn't exist? PULEEZE!!

Oh, yeah, he says he's not a racist. He even lets Blacks in his house. They even use his bathroom.

That is so f*ing clueless that it's scary.

I'm darn near speechless, not just in disbelief, but in rage! An elected official who thinks that it's OK to refuse to follow the law and apparently has already been warned about it -- and he's still in office?? Are you kidding me????

But you should read this for yourself and draw your own conclusions about this clown. I'm afraid that my conclusions aren't printable in a family space...

Is It Racist?

In a forum I hang out in, there are often whites posting this question:
Is it racist to vote for Obama because he is Black?

I find this pretty ironic, because for many long years, people have voted for candidates from their communities and no one ever thought about it being racist.

However, my response to this common question is:
If you vote for someone just because he's Black, it's not racist.
If you vote against someone just because he's Black, that's racist.

There is a huge difference that doesn't appear to be visible to a lot of people.

Voting for someone because he/she is a Christian, Jewish, Mormon, Black, Native American, Latino, Hispanic, Democratic, Republican, Green, Libertarian, your friend, your neighbor, your cousin, from your state - none of that is racist or wrong. (Perhaps a little unenlightened if they don't support the things you believe in, but that's another topic entirely.)

Why?
Obviously, there is a positive element in voting FOR someone in/of/from your community, whatever community it may be, political, racial, ethnic, spiritual, etc. Supporting someone of your community isn't wrong. (Yes, even if your community is German, Irish, Swedish, French, English, white.)

Voting AGAINST someone because of any of those factors is wrong.

It's not racist to vote for Obama because he's Black.

Again, in my not-at-all-humble opinion, a bit foolish if you're a die-hard Republican who's voting against all you believe in JUST because Obama is Black.

But it's not racist.

Also, in my opinion, if you want to have the right to bitch, moan, whine, and complain about our government over the next four years, you'd better get to the polls and VOTE!

People who don't vote shouldn't be complaining when politicians make decisions on their behalf. They had a chance to vote the buggers in or out. If they didn't vote, they're just stuck in the same old rut with everyone else.

IE, if you choose not to participate in the process, don't be surprised when the process doesn't represent you.
