Open Mouth, Insert Foot
How can you think that a statement like this is even acceptable?
"They're pushing harder and harder to get more and more of you dependent upon them so they can get your vote. That's what the bottom line is. So I don't want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else's money. I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money and provide for themselves and their families."
Wait a minute. So he thinks that our Brothers and Sisters don't work? That a majority of Black Americans are on welfare? That if you're Black, you are looking for a handout?
Really?
REALLY?
While there are still massive problems with the welfare system, Welfare Reform is more than 15 years old. The system changed dramatically in the 90s, forcing participants to look for jobs, putting time limits on adults, and sanctioning those who try to defraud the system.
The economic meltdown really hurt a lot of the success of Welfare Reform. Last hired, first fired is still the mantra of businesses everywhere. People who worked their way out of welfare were among the first fired. So they had to go back to the system to help pay the bills and feed their kids.
Yeah, I know, but listen to me -- If your highly skilled and qualified neighbor has been out of work for two years, what the heck makes you think that the person down the street with a GED and two kids, with a no-account ex who's been dodging his/her child support for the last 10 years, is going to be able to bounce right out and find a new job?
There are a lot of people on the system right now who never, ever, in their lives, would've thought it would come to this. They are struggling to survive. They paid into the system by working and paying taxes like everyone else. Now they're taking a little bit back and Santorum thinks that they're leeching off the government?
What would make this clown think that Black Americans aren't out busting their behinds like everyone else, looking for jobs and trying to raise their families?
In fact, what makes him think that the majority of people on assistance are Black? While the proportions may be high, due to a number of factors including discrimination, lack of education or opportunity and physical location, there are more WHITE people on welfare than Blacks.
And you all wondered why I said, straight up, that there are NO credible Republican candidates. None. The people stepping up are the dregs of the party, if you ask me for my biased opinion. Hypocrites, bigots, delusional, even a bit demented, that certainly fits the candidates that I've seen so far.
The Republicans don't have a chance.
Thank God.

A Presidential State of Mind
I want my President to be able to see past the difficulties and negativity of the moment.
I want my President to see the positivity and potential in his decisions, knowing that he'll be vilified no matter what he does, so he makes the choice that leads to a better future. He doesn't waste time and energy wallowing in the past.
I want my President to lead the people, pursuading Congress to think past the pork barrel projects, past the extremists shouting outside, past their own petty concerns, and look toward a positive outcome for the people -- and not their own political survival.
I want my President to care about me and you and the guy down the block and the Veterans who've come home damaged by war who need more help than the government currently provides. I want my President to care about the people. His people.
I want my President to look past the storm and determine to ride it out, no matter what the personal cost and how hopeless it all looks right this minute.
Hopelessness is a state of mind and all too often, when you look back at it, you realize that you did make it through the storm. Not untouched. Often not unharmed. But you made it through, despite all the odds against you. And life is good.
That's what I want in my President.

No Credible Candidates
Oh me, oh my, do the Repubs have a credible candidate one?
I don't think so.
Seriously, each of the Republicans that have thrown their hat into the ring has some kind of major flaw that's going to put off enough voters to wreck their chances at winning.
Now, don't get me wrong here, I'm not unhappy with this, being a Democrat and all...
But seriously, who is going to vote for the Mormon candidate? Who is going to vote for the candidate associated with the Tea Party? Who is going to vote for the guy who has little or no political experience (think Palin in a man's suit)? In all seriousness, I don't see a single viable candidate on the Republican side of the house. Every single one is going to have insurmountable issues when it comes to the mainstream moderate voter.
Oh, yeah, they'll jump up and down and have hissy fits, bring up all kinds of BS about our President, make false accusations and in the end, shoot themselves in their own big feet. There will be more discussion of our President being born in Kenya despite all the evidence to the contrary. There will be more carrying on and that's all it's going to be, the same blah blah blah that was completely unsuccessful in the last election.
When will they ever learn?
When will they figure out that Americans don't want to hear all that negative BS? Americans want to hear what the heck the politicians plan to do to boost the economy -- and that does NOT include lining the pockets of the rich. Giving tax cuts and incentives to the rich means just one thing -- the rich get richer and there's still no jobs...
Yeah, the Repubs are going to have to do better than they have so far if they even want to have a smell of the 2012 election.
(Thank goodness! Our President is doing the best job possible considering the horrible mess and the stonewalling of the Republicans in Congress. I know who I'm voting for and it's not a Republican candidate.)

Stigmatizing Welfare Recipients
All welfare applicants must drug test -- out of their own pockets -- in order to receive benefits.
Yeah, they touted this like everybody on welfare is a shambling crack ho, spending the gov't money on drugs instead of feeding their children.
Hahahahaha! Too funny! Results so far: Of the approximately 1,000 applicants, only 20 tested positive.
Twenty.
So Florida has proved what all too many public employees already knew. Most people on assistance are trying to manage in a difficult situation. They're trying to keep a place to live and feed their kids. There's nothing left for drugs.
Don't believe me? Look up the benefit amounts in your state and try to live on them for just one month. I won't even bet you, it's not right to take easy money like that.
So, the next time someone is ranting about "those welfare leaches," do bring up Florida.
Yep, the haters have had another balloon blow up right in their faces.
FAIL!
Yeah, I smiled...

Crazy Ex Blogs
This is some seriously crazy stuff here.
And now the judge has ordered the dad, creator of ThePsychoExWife.com to take down the site and not say a bad word about her in any way, shape or form.
Well, as a parent with a wack ex myself (but he's a man of course LOL), I can see where the judge has had it up to the eyeballs with this mess. She probably screams and throws things in her chambers when she sees this pair are on the calendar.
But, but, but...
Even though I kinda agree with her decision, since the kids know about the website, dad has a 1st Amendment right to speak his mind. From what I read, only initials were used and those initials didn't even match the person's initials. So how would the kids know? According to dad, mom told them.
Oooo, that is so not nice.
Anyway, it's all over the Internet.
What do you think?
Do you think the judge was right?
The judge is trampling his 1st Amendment rights?
Or...
Do you think the judge is right AND she's trampling his rights in order to protect his kids?
Honestly, usually when people are carrying on about their rights being trampled, they're just being idiots. In this case, I just don't know.
What about the kids' rights to grow up in a healthy environment without all this drama? And can you imagine what a living hell it would be to live in the same home with these two parents?
Poor kids.

Illegal Ban On Collective Bargaining Overturned!
Basically, Dane County Circuit Court Judge Maryann Sumi said that the Senate vote on March 9 failed to comply with the open meetings law. Such laws are enacted in many states and require adequate notice to the public. Wisconsin law requires at least two hours notice.
Now, they could just go back in, give proper notice, and then pass it again. However, the public is now fully aware that:
- It was all a big lie. Wisconsin government workers fund 100% of their pensions. So the saving money/cutting pension argument was a complete falsehood by the governor and his cronies.
- The public woke up and realized that once government workers were denied their rights to unionize, it wasn't a big step to deny union rights to ALL employees, public and private.
- Recall elections are already pending. Voting on the topic again will add fuel to the fire and that's the last thing those Republicans need right now.
Good job to Judge Sumi! May you "live long and prosper"!

Well They Finally Got Bin Laden...
Nahhhhhh....
I must have had a moment of extreme obliviousness to think that.
The Republican idiot of the decade, Sarah Palin gave credit to the President, but couldn't even say President Obama, and then went on to praise former President Bush. Bush? WTF did BUSH have to do with this? Yeah, some intelligence that led us in the wrong direction for a decade.
As for Palin, say what? She couldn't even give credit where credit is due?
And she's just the tip of the iceberg.
Freaking idiots.
Partisan politics over the overwhelming sense of relief that the instigator of terrorism is dead? Are you kidding me?
Oh my freaking goodness.

Racism Is Alive And Well In The United States
Even politicians occasionally open their mouths and reveal their true agendas.
This time it was Congressional candidate Jack Davis. He was seeking the GOP endorsement, running for Western New York's 26th Congressional District. (Recently vacated by Rep. Chris Lee after a scandal involving the Internet and a woman that wasn't his wife.) On February 20th, he said, "We have a huge unemployment problem with black youth in our cities. Put them on buses, take them out there [to the farms] and pay them a decent wage; they will work."
Yes, he didn't get the endorsement he was seeking. Instead the GOP gave it to Assemblywoman Jane L. Corwin of Clarence, NY.
I'll be honest with you, I am not surprised. I'm also not surprised that he's seeking endorsement from the Tea Party.
PULEEZE don't try to tell me that racism doesn't exist in the United States. It's pretty darn obvious that it does and worse, the ignorant fools don't even seem to realize just how rotten and offensive their thoughts about People of Color really are.
Seriously, it makes me sick just to think that Davis, a grown man who ought to know better, would think that this is OK.
Ugh.

Goverment Employees = Second Class Citizens
I can see the handwriting on the wall on this one.
Basically, the union has already agreed to concessions. But the governor is out to bust the union. All the rest of his posturing is just that, posturing. He's blatantly admitted that his goal is to get the union out.
So, government employees don't have a right to representation?
Wait a minute. So he's saying that if you have a government job, you aren't as good as the next citizen?
I see this as yet another Republican jerk attempting to force the worker bees into a second-class citizen status. When workers are not represented, and not ALLOWED to have representation, then we're taking a huge step backwards. Unions came into being because of the way workers were treated and mistreated.
Without the union, employees could be fired for no reason at all.
Now, before you start commenting, let me set the record straight. Government employees CAN be fired. Oh yes they can! It takes a little longer, but it is done every day and in these tough economic times, trust me, they're getting fired on a regular basis. The difference is that (usually) the employee did something stupid like: didn't follow rules and regulations, broke confidentiality, or just didn't show up for work. Like durrrr, anybody can be fired for these reasons.
And when budget is tight, positions are eliminated. The seniority list is posted and if you're at the bottom, guess what? You get laid off!
Having a government job is not a job for life.
Oh, yeah, and those pension figures that they throw around, those aren't relevant to the worker bees. Most pensions, even in California, average $25,000 a year and many agencies don't pay a nickel toward the medical insurance.
Now the fat cats who are way overpaid already (since when does it make it OK to pay a County's CAO more than the President of the United States?!?), those are the pensions spouted by the anti-employee, anti-union idiots.
So, while the union may be busted in Wisconsin, we don't know yet, don't think that this can happen everywhere. The general public is against this BS. They can read the handwriting on the wall. Once the government employees are forbidden to have unions, forbidden to have representation, forbidden to negotiate, then regular private industry will follow.
And then maybe the underlying agenda will appear -- letting the politicians' fat sticky fingers plunder the pension funds.
Oh, yeah, trust me. This is more than just union busting. This is yet another ploy to steal pensions.
Can you say ENRON?
Yep. Don't be surprised if the governor's next step is to make up some rule, regulation, law, that the government is allowed take the pensions of the worker bees and drop it into the General Fund. And once it's in the General Fund, trust me, it's gone.
"Thieves in the temple."
Just wait and see just how ugly it's going to be.

A Creative Solution to Sagging Pants
http://www.bvblackspin.com/2010/12/09/memphis-students-get-urkeled-for-sagging/
Too funny! Getting "urkeled", LOL, in middle school. Suddenly going from "cool" to "nerd" with the application of a simple zip tie!
Of course, as soon as the GIRLS decide it's not cool and make it clear to the boys, that style will start dying. Because girls determine who is cool and who is not.

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?
Yeah, right.
The elections are over, but make no mistake, the politicians are already gathering their money, their dirt, and planning the next election campaigns.
NOW is the time to keep your eyes open.
Politicians will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to be elected. Your job is to watch and listen and learn over the next few months and years.
Naturally, you have to be realistic, a downward spiral takes a good while to bring level and then push up. The economy still sucks, although it's finally showing signs of life. The job market still sucks, even though people ARE finding jobs, little by little.
But now is the time to take note of the people you've just elected into office. Did you have to hold your nose to vote for the lesser of two bad choices? NOW is the time to start working toward a better candidate.
Stop looking at the has-beens and the wannabees. Their time has come and gone. Look at the good solid performers, the ones at local levels, the ones with potential, and -- most important -- the ones with a reputation for honesty.
Yes, it's your job, as a voter, to pay attention to the people who you put into office. If they're not following through, it's your job to contact them and make it clear that you are a constituent and you are watching their work. If you're having a problem with a government agency, call them. If you don't agree with their votes, call AND write them.
Somebody has to watch the watchmen.
It's up to you.

Laughing At Meg Whitman
One night Meg Whitman is blasting Jerry Brown with a bunch of misrepresentations and lies.
And the very next day, her former housekeeper reveals that she's an undoc -- and claims that Meg knew about it.
Now, just as an aside, don't vote for someone who failed to vote for dang near 30 years. She didn't have time to be bothered to exercise her civic duty, but now she wants to be the governor.
The woman is too ignorant to govern her own house, let alone a state.
Well, maybe a state of denial, or a state of mind, or maybe even a state of shock. But Meg is not capable of handling California's state of emergency.
Seriously.
She's against illegal immigration, rants about taking responsibility for actions, but then fires her long-time housekeeper for being an illegal and fails to mention it to anyone.
Her poor PR team. I'd almost feel sorry for them, but then again, they chose to work for her.
What was that about sowing and reaping? You know, in the Good Book? Yeah, that one. That's what Meg is doing now. Reaping what she sowed.
Huh.
Can we just roll on the floor laughing like we did this morning when the story broke???

The Disgrace of Slavery
The antebellum South might be celebrated by some, but as far as I'm concerned, it's THE most shameful era of our country.
Sure, slavery has been practiced all over the world, in darn near every culture, but the brutality and inhumanity of slavery as it was practiced in the South is completely opposite of the principles of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Violence, rape, the explotation of a whole race, all for the sake of money.
Yes, in the end, like all too many horrible events in history, it really was all about the money.
In my mind, there's no excuse. And the faces of John and the unknown child next to him, lost in the mists of history, forgotten by all except perhaps, hopefully, their descendents, remind us that we are responsible for the children.
All the children.
Slavery was a disgrace that our nation is still recovering from, all these years later.
There is no excuse for ignorant behavior or tolerating ignorant behavior in America. Yet we still hear and see it every day. Bigotry and racism is alive and well.
The faces of two little boys look at us with haunted eyes, reminding us of the result of racism, of slavery, of the most shameful times in our history...

And The Slide Into Chaos Begins
Well get this, right out of Time.com: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1996064,00.html?xid=rss-fullnation-yahoo
So here we go, facing exactly what I said. The children will be next.
And then the children who only have one parent that's a citizen. (Think Obama and the birth certificate garbage that people are still repeating. Bunch of freaking idiots.)
And then the children of citizens who aren't born on US soil. If they aren't born here, then they can't be citizens, right?
And then people of any unpopular race, color, religion, creed.
I hate being right. Damn, I hate it.
The handwriting is on the wall. Are we going to stand up and fight for the rights of our citizens? Or are we going to be like Nazi Germany? Little by little, allowing the fanatics to undermine our rights, until no one has any rights at all?
It's up to us, all of us, to stand up for our Brothers and Sisters, our fellow citizens, no matter what race, color, religion, or creed -- and that includes national origin too.

Cut Off CalWORKs???
My
Gosh!
Is he freaking serious?
The governator of Cali has again opened his mouth and proved that he's just as ignorant as the racists down at the KKK rally.
Does he ever THINK before he opens his mouth?
Eliminate CalWORKs? Do you know who is on CalWORKs????
Arnie is stuck in Reagan's "Welfare Queen" urban legend. No, I'm not saying that there's not people gaming the system. Of course there are! People are people and there will always be the dishonest and thieves among us.
The problem is that he has no clue what would happen if we cut off all benefits to the poor, to the children.
Forget about our Union jobs for a minute, all of you who started to go there. We are NOT tripping. Do you really want to know why?
- Desperate people will do desperate things. Crime will rise to an amazing level. Check fraud and ID theft will be rampant. Some will progress to selling drugs and burglary. And it will get worse. Parents will do anything to feed their children. (Even go on welfare.)
- Once the parents are in the court system, what about the children? Who is going to care for them? Long suffering grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, who are already suffering and won't be able to get CalWORKs payments to help raise the children? Or will they go straight into foster care, which is even more expensive than assisting families from the get-go?
- And the long term consequences. Children raised in foster care DO NOT do well when they grow up. All too many end up as single parents and/or in jail. Thereby perpetuating the cycle of a generational curse.
- While we're at it, let's also look at In Home Supportive Services. Those are the underpaid and under appreciated who care for the elderly and disabled, helping them stay in their homes and saving the government boatloads of money. Nursing homes cost thousands and thousands of dollars per month VS the care worker that barely makes minimum wage, but helps people stay home, where they belong. That could be your parents and grandparents and great-grandparents.
Why aren't we tripping about our jobs?
We will have jobs. They'll be in the foster care system, corrections, local police forces, and then once the politicians have figured out that people are angry and ready to vote them all out, the welfare system will crank back into gear. If nothing else, that Federal funding that the state uses to fund a lot more than CalWORKs will catch their attention. We receive more than we spend (did you know that?) so Arnie's fuzzy math just will not add up to the savings that he claims.
And don't think that the Courts and the Unions won't weigh in. They will definitely battle it out to the bitter end.
Yeah, Arnie the governator can puff up his chest like a banty hen and strut around the Capitol, but he's on his way out the door.
I wish I could plant a boot in his a** and hurry him on his way...
So When Is A Citizen Not A Citizen?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100521/pl_ynews/ynews_pl2192
There's a few problems with this idea, which this bunch of freaking clowns never consider:
- It's a slippery slope. First we strip citizenship of children/people born here in the United States because their parents aren't legal.
- Next, we decide that even with one legal parent, they can't be citizens.
- Then children born of citizens of persuasions that we don't like -- race, ethnicity, religion -- like Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Mexicans, Arab-Americans, or African-Americans all become non-citizens.
- Then we strip citizenship from everyone else. If you aren't a member of the current regime's party, then you can't be a citizen.
Then, oh dear Lord, what then? We have created second and third class citizens who are not citizens, who have no rights in the very country that they and their ancestors were born in. So we formulate a whole new class system based on this travesty of "American, Land of the Free."
What then? Untouchables? Ghettos in the classic sense of the word? Even a return to slavery??? A Holocaust?
Think it can't happen? Better take a look at Germany in the 1930s and 40s...
Oh yeah, the blatherers will say that it could never happen here.
They're deluded. Once you start down the slippery slope, it becomes easier and easier to be a hater, to discriminate, to steal the birthright of citizens.
Of course, being mostly Welsh and Native American, I have some pretty strong opinions about citizenship rights, since my ancestors had their country taken from them AND were not citizens until well into the 20th century. And we are STILL battling the Feds for legal recognition of tribes, even though we have always been here...
Don't think it couldn't happen here. It already has. Just ask my great grandparents.

How To Eat Well On A Food Stamp Budget
How many of you can do better than the chefs??
I can...
With careful planning, shopping at Grocery Outlet and sales at other stores, plenty of potatoes and beans, and a whole lot of portion control, the average family can eat very well.
Of course, if you have a source of free foods, like the local church that gives away bread to anyone who asks, it helps. So does a garden or generous neighbors with extra fruit, tomatoes and zucchini.
I laughed when I read the chefs' choices. Look, a bag of potatoes, a pound of hamburger, a can of chili beans and some shredded cheese make a great stuffed potato meal.
Leftovers? Chop them all up, add diced tomatoes in juice and serve with french bread and fresh fruit for dessert.
Oatmeal or eggs for breakfast. Sandwiches for lunch.
And so on.
Basically, choose your starch and then build a meal around it. Meat, cheese and eggs can stretch a long way. Simply read the recipe (if you use recipes) and put in half the meat.
Think about it.
Living the old fashioned lifestyle isn't all bad.

LL Cool J Removed From Sarah Palin-Hosted Show
I'll write more about this later...
OK, it's later.
What a SNARKY way for Fox to weasel their way out of STEALING LL Cool J's clip from another show!
LL has been around for a long time. He's not some newcomer to acting. He doesn't need his clip shown on this desparate attempt to make Palin look good. (Whose bright idea was this anyway?)
Somehow, I'm not surprised. Any time Palin is involved in something, it seems to turn out badly. I thought she was a brilliant choice for VP -- until she opened her mouth and proved that the Republicans couldn't possibly pick a WORSE and STUPIDER contender.
Oh, my, gosh. A new low for the Repubs, Palin, and Fox network.
How much deeper can that mud hole get?
Oh, wait. California is going to elect a new governator.
It will get worse...

Sweat Lodge Charlatan -- A "Self-Help Guru"??
This is disgusting on so many levels, that I don't know where to start.
This man, James Arthur Ray, took it upon himself to fraudulently use the sacred ceremonies of the sweat lodge and managed to kill three people. Why?
The Bible says that "The love of money is the root of all evil."
According to the news article, "His attorneys have said his Carlsbad-based company, James Ray International, hasn't been bringing in revenue for months."
Well, I don't know about you, but it's pretty clear to me -- it's all about the money.
His attempts at restarting his career at fleecing those people seeking spiritual enlightenment is disgusting. He built his empire on the backs of the lost, and now, after killing three of them, he's trying to get it going again?
My friends, there is nothing wrong with seeking Truth. In fact, you should seek Truth. But don't listen to charlatans who are stealing from other cultures, other peoples, from the Great Spirit, from God.
Have respect for the Great Spirit, Jehovah Jirah, God. Your God who loves you as a parent loves a child. He gave you a handbook to guide you through this life.
It's called the Bible.
Don't listen to disgusting thieves who warp the sacred ways, desecrate the sacred places, perform ceremonies without proper safeguards, without guidence from the Elders.
Take it back where you belong, back to the Word.
And for Heaven's sake, don't give this "self-help guru" your hard earned money! He's NOT looking to help you, he's looking to help himself to your checkbook.

About The Tea Party Racism
Huh.
Well, ya know, people can SAY anything they want, but the proof is out there, as this writer pointed out in her article, Too much tea party racism.
Even in liberal San Francisco (which is NOT as liberal as many people think), there's a lot of Conservatives and while they may get outvoted, they're a force to be reckoned with.
Don't believe me? Check it out:
