Another Child Lost

What is it, that people think it's somehow OK to harm a child?

Yes, little Sandra Cantu lost her life to the perversions of an adult. In this case, the arrested person is a woman, her neighbor, her friend's mother, a trusted member of the community.

The perverted desires of adults that lead to harming our precious children.

How could you hate a child so much that you could hurt her, kill her?

I'm not a big fan of the death penalty, mainly because too many innocent men have been sent to their deaths. Too many have come too close to dying for a crime they didn't commit, due to mistaken witnesses and railroaded by prosecutors determined to overlook all evidence of innocence. And then the justice system fails them again by refusing to look at all evidence, refusing to accept recanted testimonies, failing to account for the prejudice, bigotry, racism that still infects our society like a weeping wound of poison.

But to kill a child?

What would lead anyone to harm a child?

I think death is too good, too easy for people like that. They should suffer in isolation, in prison until the end of their days.

Yes, my heart cries out for death, death, death, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. The Old Testament speaks to my desire for vengeance.

But that's too easy of a solution. Too easy, too convenient, too forgiving of the sin of murder.

Yes, forgiving.

Death is the easy way out.

Vengeance is mine sayth the Lord.

True punishment is forcing her murderer to live out her allotted number of days, alone, the only thing left for her to do is regret and repent of the deed that led to that lonely cell. Alone in that cell, just her and God together, for many long years.

Poor little Sandra. I pray that she didn't know what was happening, that she didn't suffer, that God gathered her Home quickly.

May God rest her sweet little soul and Jesus hold her close until her family joins her in Heaven. I pray that Jesus will continue to hold her family close in their pain and sorrow.

Another child lost.

Keep your children close. Watch over them. Cherish them. Pray over them. Love them. Love them forever.

Jesse, Shut Up!!

Attn: Jesse Jackson

Dude, you must be getting old. To actually think that a mike is turned off? OMG, dude, what were you thinking? Haven't you walked this road before?

And to talk mess about Obama on top of it?

OK, Jesse, what is up?

I find it hard to believe that you did this "by accident". What was your goal? Why are you trying to undercut Obama? What are you trying to distract the American public from?

Jesse, since MLK's death, you've been working to stay in front of America's cameras. Yes, I do want to believe that your intentions were and are good. You have done many good things in the past. You've brought attention to many important issues that may well have been swept aside without your efforts to expose the truth.

But dude, a whole lot of people remember what happened that sad day when MLK was murdered. You were NOT with him, next to him, on that balcony. But you sure ran to get in front of the cameras. You tried to jump up into MLK's place with a story that was blatantly untrue. People still hold that against you.

Jesse, if you want Obama to win, you need to shut up!

Yes, you heard me. Shut up and sit down and let the man work the crowds. He doesn't need your help. Hard as it may be for you to accept, he knows EXACTLY what he's doing and he doesn't need you trying to pump up the volume.

Obama is the new wave, the wave of the future. Whether he wins or loses, America is talking. America is taking note of the new Black man.

Obama is the face of Black America right now.

Jesse, shut up and let the man work!!

Justice Finally Prevailed

Yes, justice finally prevailed in Solano County last week.

So, what happened?

On October 19, 2005, there was a terrible, terrible accident in Vacaville. A young man named David Bell ran his car up onto the sidewalk near an elementary school. Several people were injured and two children were killed.

The DA was trying David for 2nd degree murder and 10 counts of assault.

Now, David is a developmentally disabled man, who obviously does well enough to get a drivers license. A simple soul, he was devastated by what happened. He's been held in jail for over two years on these charges.

But what did happen?

According to the DA, David came upon slower moving traffic, flew into a rage, tried to pass the other cars on the right, ran up onto the sidewalk and injured 10, killed 2.

However, according to witnesses at the scene, David was completely out of it. He didn't know what had happened. The path of the car simply veered off, hit several parked cars and hit the children and parents leaving school. After being arrested, doctors diagnosed a seizure disorder. So David had a seizure. There was no malice, no anger, no deliberate running off the road, no intent to harm anyone.

Now, this is no surprise to me. My ex has a seizure disorder, and in fact, no longer has a drivers license because I turned him in after he had a seizure while driving (not his first, but since he was in deep denial and convinced his doctors that he was ok, the medication was keeping it under control, he was still driving). Yes, similarly, he had the seizure, was going faster and faster, ran a stop sign, nearly hit another car headon, sideswiped some small trees, until the car finally came to a halt. How do I know all this?

Our daughter was in the back seat. She unfastened her seat belt, leaned over the seat, couldn't pull his foot off the gas, so she pulled on the emergency brake and brought the car to a stop. She probably saved both their lives. And when he came out of it, he was, of course, bewildered and had no idea what had happened.

(That's the way it is with seizures and why they're so hard to diagnose. If the patient has no clue and there's no witnesses to the seizure, how do we know that it happened?)

In any case, does this all sound all too much like David's scenario?

David's first trial ended in a hung jury and reports say that most of the jurors were for acquittal. The second trial ended last week. David was acquitted of all charges.

Justice was finally served for this young man.

Having said that, my heart still goes out to the families who were injured and most especially to the Cardenas family, who lost two young children. While David received justice, they still mourn their babies. No matter how the trial turned out, they still suffer. There are no winners in this case, only blind justice.

May God watch over them and their other children and comfort them in their sorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen, Amen, Amen...
